A LITTLE ABOUT ME

Prior to becoming a counsellor, I worked as a HR professional for a large manufacturing company. My role no longer fitted me as a person so I decided to start a new chapter in working with people, but in a different way.

I lost someone very dear to me which put my life into perspective. I wanted my job to something more meaningful and reflect me as a person so I decided to retrain in a new profession and progressed from a basic evening course to completing a degree in counselling.

MY COUNSELLING EXPERIENCE

My practical training consisted of two voluntary positions as a counsellor in training. This first was at a local hospice and my clients were bereaved relatives from cancer. This introduced me to working with loss and bereavement.

The second was as a counsellor in training at Mind. I worked with people affected by mental illness, my clients presenting issues were mainly stress and depression, but some client work included those impacted by Bipolar and PTSD.

Over the years I have worked with a range of diverse clients covering Anxiety, Bereavement, Depression, Loss, Trauma, Cancer, Self esteem, Relationships, Redundancy, Stress and Work related issues.

Whilst the scope of my counselling work has mainly been a loss of some kind, I'm able to work with most life issues people struggle with.
